Access recently helped digital video communication and entertainment solutions pioneer, Honestech, launch its first application in Peru.
The application, VHS to DVD 3.0, is a Red Herring 100 Asia winner, which enables users to archive videotape onto DVD/CD and to create DVD/CD movies from a Camcorder, VCR, or DVD player. Distribution of the application in Peru is being managed by Tech Data.
"We’re very excited to be working with Honestech as it expands into Peru," said Mayra Gomez of Access International. "Although Peru's IT market is still relatively small compared to some other Latin American countries like Brazil, it remains a solid growth market for many types of technology goods and services. There are a number of worthwhile opportunities here for Access partners to explore."
This optimistic assessment is underscored by several recent reports on Peru’s IT industry. According to Business Monitor International, for instance, demand for software in Peru is increasing, prompted in part by aggressive legislation passed in 2003 which forces public entities to use legitimate software rather than pirated copies. Retail and enterprise demand for IT hardware is also strong, according to the report, with the total value of spending on IT products and services expected to pass US$880mn in 2008, and US$1bn by 2010.
